Every time I am in the store, looking for something new is a must do thing. This time, I found very a interesting vegetable that I have seen a few times but have never cooked it. This is a turnip. When I bought it, I didn’t know the name of this vegetable but really liked the look. So without any knowledge on the vegetable, I just trusted my gods and used it for a feeling of spring rolls. If you are interested, read further and made these spring rolls yourself. It is very unusual and delicious!!!
Main ingredients:
- Rice paper – ca. 21 pcs
- Turnip – 1 pcs average size
- Carrots – 2 big pcs
- Onion – 1 big pcs
- Canned corn – 160 g
- Turkey – 100 g
Spices:
- Curry – 2 tbsp
- Tandoori spice – 1 tbsp
- Coriander – 3 g or ½ tbsp
- Salt, black pepper after your taste
Step 1. Prepare spring rolls filling
Cut carrots, onion, turkey, and turnip into smaller piece and grind it in blender. Add canned corn and grind again. Filling is almost ready, we just need to fry it and add spices.

Warm up the pan with a bit of butter in it, add filling mixture and fry it for about4-5 minutes and add all spices, salt and black pepper after your taste. Our filling is ready.

Step 2. Let’s roll spring rolls
Before rolling spring rolls, it is very important to prepare baking sheet and board on which you will roll them. I use plastic board but if you use from other materials, then cover board with clean kitchen towel. Preheat oven to 200 ºC.
- Put baking sheet on baking tray
- Take a board for rolling bigger than your rice paper
Take a casserole of rice paper size and warm up water ca. 50ºC (not too warm – temperature comfortable for your fingers). Then take one rice paper, put it the water for 10 seconds and take it out. Place rice paper on the board (or towel). Take 2 -3 teaspoons of filling as pictured and roll the paper following the same order as on the pictures. Ready spring roll move to baking sheet, and repeat until all filling is used.

- Put rice paper in warm water for 10 seconds
- Take it out
- Place wet rice paper on board
- Place filling closer to you (not in center)
- Wrap up from sides first
- Then roll it
- Roll until the end
- Ready roll
- Move ready roll on baking sheet
- All spring rolls are on baking sheet
Step 3. Bake spring rolls
Grease all spring rolls with vegetable oil and bake them for 25 minutes.
- Use kitchen brush to oil the spring rolls
- Oil each spring roll separately
